Trade Show Research: ADA Dental

The American Dental Association’s annual meeting is a gathering of dentists and dental professionals aimed at providing continuing education for advancements in patient care.

ADA 2015 – America’s Dental Meeting will take place November 5-10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington. The District of Columbia Dental Society will serve as host for ADA 2015, resulting in two major dental conferences in one.

Attendee Demographics

According to information from the ADA, 30 percent of show attendees are dentists, and 25 percent are related professionals—i.e. dental assistants, hygienists, lab technicians, allied health professionals, etc. A few more attendee “by the numbers figures” are listed here:

-          Attended the 2014 show: 96 percent

-          Spent three-plus hours at the 2014 show: 79 percent

-          Characterized as “very experienced,” professionally (21-60 years): 62 percent

-          Moderately experienced (11-20 years): 20 percent

-          New dentists (10 years or fewer): 18 percent


TSNN estimates 600 exhibitors at ADA 2015. Big names like Crest + Oral-B, GlaxoSmithKline and Colgate will occupy some of the larger spaces. Resources for existing and potential exhibitors live on the ADA website and include everything from an up-to-date floor plan to the Exhibitor Service Manual and application information.

Spaces are available in a variety of sizes, but the ADA has posted the following pricing information for 10×10 booths in different areas as a baseline. Corner spaces require an additional $900 fee.

-          Zone One: $3,900

-          Zone Two: $3,800

-          Zone Three: $3,700



ADA 2015 will offer several incentives that make exhibiting even more beneficial. For instance, visitors are encouraged the purchase items directly from exhibitors at the show. The Incentive Buying Program dictates that attendees who spend $3,500 on the show floor get free registration to the 2016 event. ADA 2015 will also feature Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), tracking technology that can assist exhibitors with lead generation and ROI analytics.

In addition, the ADA, in conjunction with Freeman, is providing discounted caravan rates and free warehousing between ADA 2015 and the Greater New York Dental Meeting (happening November 27-December 2 in New York) so exhibitors can more easily attend both conferences.

Education and Marketing

ADA 2015 will feature a variety of courses and workshops for professionals to practice new skills, learn about cutting-edge technology and even obtain certifications. In addition, attendees can earn up to seven free hours of continuing education credits per day on the show floor.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available and divided into the following categories: branding, sponsorship, pre/during/post-show and new dentist opportunities. Exhibitors with varying objectives and budgets can choose an option that’s right for them to help enhance their presence at the show. ADA 2015 offers a marketing toolkit for exhibitors as well that includes email and newsletter templates, logo specifications and pre-made PDF advertisements.
